Sambus Geospatial has taken an initiative to donate an ArcGIS Educational Package License to the Geomatics Department of the University of Mines and Technology as part of the company’s strategic partnership with academic institution as well as its Corporate Social Responsibility.
A short gathering of lecturers and department heads within the university was held to commemorate the donation activity. Representing Sambus Geospatial, was Samuel Zoe and Gerald Bempong. Over the meeting, Dr. Michael Aduah gave a brief background on the purpose of the meeting, and then went on to introduce reps from SGL to shed more light on the license package that was being donated.
A brief presentation was given by Samuel Zoe, Business Development Lead, to enlighten the school on the ArcGIS Academic Departmental License (Medium) package, in which he opined that the license was valid for 3 years, after which the Geomatics Department would have to cover the cost of purchasing the license for the subsequent years. Gerald Bempong, Technical and Professional Support lead, highlighted the capabilities of the ArcGIS Academic Departmental License (Medium) package, as well as the installation procedures.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, Prof. Anthony Ewusi, Dean, Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Studies thanked SGL for the donation and assured that the licenses would be put to good use. Present at the ceremony were Prof. Issaka Yakubu (Dean, School of Railways and Infrastructure Development), Dr. Michael Aduah (Head of the Geomatics Department), Frank Ahiadome (Head of IT, UMAT) and Joseph Adibah (Technician, Geomatics Department).
