GIS has been found to be a veritable tool for development planning in various sectors in the Nigerian Economy. The development of GIS technology has been propelled by several individuals who were given honorary GIS Day-plaques to commemorate the GIS Day Celebrations.
Over 30 ArcGIS users in Nigeria were recognized by Sambus Geospatial (Nigeria) Limited for their exceptional contributions to the development of geospatial technology in Nigeria. Preparations for this activity began in during the GIS Week however, the distribution of the plaques extended into January 2020.
